Caunos Gulet Cruise Itinerary
7 nights
Marmaris to Fethiye (or vice-versa)
Day 1
When you land at Dalaman Airport, we’ll whisk you off to
Marmaris harbour where you’ll board your gulet. You’ll spend your
first night here, so once you’ve settled in you’ll have plenty of time
to explore Turkey’s biggest beach resort.
Day 2
Today, you’ll sail to the heart-shaped bay of Kumlubuk,
where a forest-backed stretch of sand and a restaurant-trimmed waterfront
await. It’s perfect do-nothing territory and the ideal way to kick off
your cruise. From here, you’ll head to the quiet bay of Kadirga to
anchor for the night.
Day 3
This morning, Ekincik Bay is on the agenda. The beach here
is beautiful and comes with a side-order of small cafés. It’s also your
gateway to Caunos. This ancient town is home to Iztuzu Beach, where the
near-extinct Caretta-Caretta turtles come ashore to breed. Plus you’ll
find Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs. Here you’ll get the
chance to take a small riverboat cruise through the canal to see the ruins
up close - it’s well-worth paying a little extra for.
Day 4
Day four brings you to the perfect little cove of Aga
Limani. Here it’s a toss-up between lounging around in the sun and
swimming. Or you could take a 30-minute herb-scented hike to the
little-known ruins of Lydea. Sailing on, you’ll duck into Binlik Bay
before mooring in Batik Hamam, the aptly-named spot where you’ll find a
partly-submerged bathhouse.
Day 5
Your port of call today is Tersane Island. Swimming and
watersports are all on the menu here, or you could go ashore to see the
Greco-Roman ghost town and explore the shipyards that line the beach.
You’ll overnight just off the shore of Bedhirrahm, ready to sail away
after breakfast.
Day 6
Next on the list is Manastir Island. Home to a collection
of underwater relics that were once part of a Byzantine Monastery, this is
a great spot for snorkelling. Follow in the footsteps of the Queen of
Egypt and dive in. Legend has it that Cleopatra once took a dip here, and
with that in mind the locals have nicknamed it Cleopatra’s baths.
You’ll also stop at Yassicalar Island to spend some time on the beach.
The day draws to a close in Gocek, a dinky port where tiny tavernas and
pocket-sized bars light up the waterfront.
Day 7
Your last day at sea takes in the sun-kissed beaches and
seafood eateries of Piknikbuku. Then you’ll pull into Fethiye, a pretty
town tucked between a beautiful bay and the slopes of Mount Crasus. It’s
your last chance to watch the world go by with a drink on dry land.
Day 8
Today we’ll take you back
to Dalaman Airport, where you’ll board your flight back to the UK. For
those of you on night flights: once you have vacated the gulet you will be
taken to a hotel nearby where you can relax by the pool or go for a swim.
Meals and drinks are not included. There may be a courtesey room available
for you to take a shower before your departure.
